Performers of all ages will come together to celebrate the Choir’s past, present and future in an evening of song and dance.

The evening will open with the premiere of a piece by local composer Barrie Cabena. “Let’s Celebrate” will be performed by a double choir and orchestra.

Adult and youth choirs will then perform “The Long Journey,” from Ontario Composer Jeff Smallman, with an orchestra.

In “Voices of Earth,” also performed by adult and youth choirs, 2 pianos and percussion, Canadian composer Ruth Watson Henderson juxtaposes text from St. Francis of Assisi’s Canticle of the Sun with the words of 19th Century Canadian poet Archibald Lampman.

DtDE will join both adult and youth choirs, and integrate members of the Guelph Youth Dance Training Program among the company, for the final piece of the evening, “Mass of the Children” by British composer John Rutter. In this piece, Rutter interweaves the traditional text of Latin mass with the English poems of Thomas Ken and William Blake.

At 7pm, David Earle, Linda Beaupré and Gerald Neufeld will conduct a half hour discussion about the unique experience of integrating choral music and choreography.
